Here for the life supports our homeless and at-risk students need
We work together for the good of our students experiencing trauma and homelessness, along with their families.
By working together - providers, schools, donors and recipients –
we form a resource network of givers and receivers.
For example, Cason United Methodist Church was hosting a back to school giveaway for 50 homeless students living in the local domestic violence shelter and in the veterans program in several hotels. Sharon notifies the Student Life Alliance on our monthly call and received backpacks and school supplies, uniforms and wardrobes, hygiene kits, socks and underwear for all 50 children and teenagers.
We believe every student has potential worth nourishing and investing in.
"We have been working together behind the scenes for years. Now its time to collaborate as students and families need different things at different times." - Maura Plante
"We all need to collaborate! I’m honored to be of service to a school district that truly understands and recognizes the needs of our students, and values their community partners. " - Jennifer Smith
"Children are our future. I want to give them hope that they have a bright future no matter what their circumstances now. We will show them, and their families, someone cares about them." - Jackie Ermola
"As a Care Ministry Treasurer by day and also a case manager by night, I have heard the suffering and been able to help people out of some tough spots. We all need a little help sometimes. Grateful to serve with the Student Life Alliance." -Tom McCreary
Who better to partner with teams of volunteers to purchase and pack hundreds of hygiene kit items, or socks, or food packs. This maverick ran the ultra-competitive games at the Tax Collector's Office for staff to donate to the homeless students. 2,600 socks was the record of all time!
"As Education Coordinator for the City of Delray Beach for decades, I know how some students suffer for lack of supports to keep going to school while living without a roof overhead or sofa surfing. That's why I am here, to love these youth through to graduation and onwards!" - Janet Meeks
"Paying it forward in service is my strong desire to help our students reach their potential. I lead SLA because my heart and my mind are in the right place - for I was once in a position of needing support." - Founa Badet
